The current RLP restrictions/exemptions under Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act (website) can be summarized as follows:

       Limits the operation of commercial motor vehicles or trailers to operate at axle weights up to 5,000 kg;

       Exempts two-axle trucks carrying heating fuel and livestock feed, as well as any vehicles transporting live poultry to have up to 7,500 kg per axle as part of an intermediate weight standard; and,

       Exempts some vehicles from the regulations such as vehicles engaged in highway maintenance, public utility emergency vehicles, waste disposal and vehicles that transport milk.

Temporary exemptions from Spring Weight Restrictions provided for transportation of raw milk, potatoes and poultry products (including grain for feed and eggs), on specified routing only, effective April 3/2020. In lieu of issuing permits for these exemptions, an enforcement deferral will be granted on specified routing that has been submitted for each commodity.
